The only research I had to do after seeing the listing was to check it was REALLY on top of an aquifer, check nearby well depths, and verify with the county that all/most of our plans were permissible in the jurisdiction. This meant we could view it and make an offer within weeks of it hitting the listings instead of having to leave it on the market while we tried to get more info. instead of spending time after finding it, trying to get more general information about the area. You can do (and bookmark without signing up) very specific searches like "any land only property in x state under $20k" or as specific as "farms in this county between xx price and xx acres".
